Small Ida

This is a roughly 2 inch tall Ida from the fantastic game Monument Valley by UsTwo Studios. It is 2 inches tall to roughly match a totem I made from 2x2 lumber (for non-US folks, a 2x2 is 3.8 centimeters - long story). While it can be made in either sandstone or plastic there are some things to consider. The sandstone on the right comes precolored and the black portion has a clean edge. But the colors aren't as deep, and the standstone is fragile. This one lost a leg and tip of her hat from a three foot fall to a hard surface. If you've got kids, sandstone isn't for you. If you choose plastic, the white polished is a good choice. If you are familiar with model painting, you can probably ignore my suggestions. I used a fine-tipped sharpie to do the coloring. You need to be very careful because the plastic is very porous and sucks up the ink very quickly. Take small strokes around the edges and don't hold the tip of the pen against the plastic or it will "bleed" and look bad. If you haven't tried coloring on shapeways plastic before, I'd strongly recommend getting a "practice head" to experiment on first as they are much cheaper. Now we can speed up the coloring so you can see the final product. It only took me a couple minutes to color it all in.This thing was made with Tinkercad.
