This is definately not finished, and I am hoping to finish it in the future. If you haven't noticed yet, this is obviously supposed to be a chess set.
Steve's Side Monster Side
King Steve of course Zombie Pigman
Queen Iron golem Zombie
Rook (castle) Chest Snow Golem
Bishop Skeleton Villager
Knight (horse) Wolf Enderman
Pawns Tools Creeper
Later on, if I finish the project, you can see that I have dirt texture. For the board, i would do dirt/grass to make it look more minecrafty. I would also change the texture of the pieces bases to be minecraftish. A little backstory:
The enderman are horses, because in the game, they can teleport (thus they jump in chess). The skeletons (i never made bows for them) are bishops, representing that they can shoot far away (moving diagonal). I made tools for the pawns, because it represents how in the game you use tools to fight the mobs. In fact, this whole game kind of represents Steve and his recources againt the mobs. As for all the other peieces, they just felt right being where they were. Like the iron Golem, he was big and helpful, so he's the queen. The villagers are helpful, and they seemed to fit well with a bishop piece.
I hope it will look cool, and WIN, because I spent a lot of my free time on it. ALL of the models were made by me, I never imported anything. If I had more time, I would have seriously loved to texture up everything, but it will have to stay where it is for now.
Sadly, I textuted things using TINKERCAD, but the textures are not showing up here (I think because of the file type). If you are interested a file with some of the pieces being textured, feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org, and I can send you the file.
People would love to downlolad this, because it can't get better than this (except a bunch of minecraft models). You get to see some of your favorite mobs and enemies, while fighting with or against them in a fun game of chess. I'm also letting people edit this, because sometimes--you don't want to 3D print a whole board (it's just a bunch of squares after all). Most people love chess, or know about it, and most people know about minecraft! Put these two well known things together, and you've got something awesome. I also enjoy a little bit of minecraft, and chess too.
I went from having zero experience, to building this. I watched tutorials, and used an easy online website called tinkercad. I also tried my best to make the models look exactly like they were in the game, because it would be lame if it wasn't. So if you like it--SWEET!
I really wanted to capture the struggle of you and your recources, versus the rest of the whole minecraft world. Please do enjoy, and do what you will with this--no credit needed. Go minecraft and Chess Lovers!!
