Product Description

This is a sculpture based on a photo by Francois Ribeaudeau that I originally made as a gift for my grandpa. It took me awhile to get around to uploading it and printing it for him but I'm happy with how it turned out. The sculpture is designed with high definition details in mind and so I've included the ferns and sticks and things that might not work as well in the weaker print materials. I've reduced the volume as much as I'm confident doing so that both the base and the log are entirely hollow while the fox is solid to avoid leaving any holes in it.

I imagine this piece might be useful as a canvas for model painting as the frosted ultra detail material is rather unassuming on its own (though as a sculptor I still like it).

Be aware that frosted ultra detail (FUD) is essentially a base material similar to the plastics used for miniature models. It's great for holding detail but steps are sometimes necessary to clean the oils left from printing as well as to prime and seal it for further painting. I'm a beginner at such things but for people who work with models on a regular basis this shouldn't come as a surprise. I have had some issues with patchy surface qualities in the past--opaque white appearing like an ambient occlusion pass where wax supports held the model during printing--so please let me know as soon as possible if anything like that comes up and we'll see what can be done about it.

Please feel free to send me photos, advice, or questions about this piece or anything else in my shop. I'd rather use the photos to document the physical sculptures and design work than basic shapeways renders. More of my work and this piece in particular can be found at my site here.
