Product Description
The Advanced SEAL Delivery System was designed to carry 16 SEALs upwards of 60 miles into the operations area and back. A "dry" mini-sub design, the SEAL operators were transported into the operations area in relative comfort, certainly compared to the wet Mk8 and Mk9 Swimmer Delivery Vehicles, vastly improving combat effectiveness. Most of the sub's capabilities are classified, however it has an approximate range of 120 miles, diving depth of greater than 150 feet, and can transport up to 16 SEALs.
In 2006, citing huge cost overruns, the planned 5 additional submarines were cancelled. And in 2008 the one and only ASDS was retired from service after being damaged in a pier side fire, having only served from 2003-2008.
This is a no-frills model, literally the 1/350 version scaled up to 1/144, and has NOT been optimized for scale.
I've since redesigned the model so that the mounts are integral to the submarine as it was extremely fiddly to detach the mounts from the sprue and realign to the ASDS. Figured the option to have the ASDS separate from the mounts wasn't necessarily desirable and that most would display the ASDS on the mounts and mounted to the SSN. If someone wants a separate ASDS let me know.
