This 3D Printed Replica was created by an intensive multi-step process:

3D Laser Scanning. This process measures the structure and creates a "point cloud" for each scan. This building took ~8 hours total to scan both the interior and exterior.
3D Laser Scan Alignment. This was done in our offices via specialized software that we use with our 3D Laser Scanner. This building consists of ~30 Million scan points. The alignment of each scan and processing took ~ 5 hours.
Create 3D Print model. Using specialized software, we create a 3D Printable model from the aligned point cloud data (including color). This process effectively creates surfaces and a water-tight model ready for printing. This building consisted of over 50 Million polygons, which we reduced in order to print. This step took ~ 2 days to complete.
3D Print. The final step is the 3D Printed Replica, which is a scaled-down exact replica of the original building. The best result for this historic structure is provided using Full Color Sandstone, which is our standard material.
