In the annals of military hardware history, the Bell D-188 is a well documented and fascinating subject. Despite it being erroneaously referred to as the 'XF-109', it was denied official USAF approval as having a century series designation and is a common misconception. My model is based on drawings and specifications of this last iteration of the design (Model 2000). It is sculpted as an in-flight wheels retracted configuration. The engraved lines are limited to operating aperature doors and spoilers, and radar cone joint. I include a pin socket for a display stand. The nose is solid, so one can truncate the tip to install a pitot tube. The cockpit canopy is separate and printed in FXD
here. My model in 1/72nd scale is the most realistic depiction of the subject on the market.
