Product Description
The SPAD 16 was produced in 1917 as an update of the earlier SPAD 11 two-seater. While it was not as well-liked as the faster Breguet 14 A2 and Salmson 2 A2, it served with at least 32 escadrilles starting in late 1917. 235 were in service in early 1918, and 130 were still flying in October. A superb example flown by Billy Mitchell is preserved in the National Air and Space Museum in the USA.

This product comes in 1:144 and 1:285/6mm/1:288 scales.   The 1:285 product contains two aeroplanes and detachable propeller disks rather than propeller blades.  They are joined by disposable links to keep the price down, since single-part models are more affordable.  You can break the links with nail clippers, wire cutters, or similar.

DESIGNER NOTE:  Models at scales smaller than 1:144 may no longer be available.  Shapeways discontinued the material for which they were designed, and the newer materials require that each and every model be adjusted to thicken surfaces like wings.  If you are interested in a particular model in a small scale, please let me know and I will prioritize it higher in the queue.
