Designed in June when the bleeding heart flowers were in full bloom, this pendant is titled “Bleeding Heart” after the blossoms that have inspired it.
A bittersweet Japanese legend tells how the bleeding heart flower came to be. A young man tried to win the affections of a beautiful young lady by offering her several gifts. First, he gave her a pair of rabbits (the first two petals of the flower), second, a pair of slippers (the next two petals of the flower), and lastly a pair of earrings (the last two petals of the flower). But she rejected the man, and, heart-broken, he pierced his heart with his sword (the middle part of the flower) which caused the bleeding heart.
In honor of love and tragedy, the Bleeding Heart pendant is a symbol of all that we hold dear and all that is worth bleeding for. This is an elegant gift for anyone that means the world to you.
Bleeding Heart is engraved with the designer’s trademark “el” signature so that your friends and family know it was modeled with love by Ellalune. It is designed to be worn around the neck as a pendant and is offered in a variety of materials ranging from polished plastic to precious metal. Ellalune recommends it in polished silver.
Only the pendant is included with your purchase here on Shapeways, but your pendant will be printed out and shipped directly to you with haste when you order.
