Cuisinart food processor part - safety catch

Product Description

This replacement part fits into the work bowl of a Cuisinart Prep 11 Plus (DLC-2011) food processor, and may fit other models as well. The part works exactly like the original. It can't be purchased separately, as far as I can tell. The part allows the work bowl cover to close the safety switch once the cover is twisted into place -- without it, the machine won't work. With it, the machine will only work with the lid on and locked. The original part attached to the bowl with two cylindrical nubs instead of a hole in the middle, but I had to drill out the center to remove it from the cover without cracking the plastic. The new part can be fixed in place with a small screw, threaded into the center hole (see photo). I had my copy printed in the "strong and flexible polished" (laser sintered nylon) plastic. You may need to enlarge the hole with a drill, depending on the size of your screw. Just make sure the screw is tight -- you don't want it falling into your food! I made the design by scanning the broken part on a flatbed scanner, importing the silhouette image into Sketchup, tracing and extruding it, then scaling to micrometer measurements of the original.
