Swingouts for Lowboy Trailer, Tamiya Truck Rail

Swingouts for Lowboy Trailers using a Tamiya truck frame rail.   Swingouts are designed to accept a  1/4x3/4 plank.   Mounts set the swingout so the plank is flush with the top of the rail.   Mounts are universal left/right side, but to have a top and bottom.   Bottom of the mount has notches to hold the swingout open or close.  

The print includes 10 swingouts and 10 mounts.   You will need 1/16 brass wire, a 1/16 and 5/64 drill bit, M2x4mm button head screws (RC4WD), epoxy or CA are optional.

To install:

#1 - Mark the spacing on your trailer, minimum spacing is 1-1/8"

@2 -Use the mount to mark the two holes on the trailer frame, drill the frame and tap the mount for 2mm screws.

#3 -  Drill the pivot holes in the mounts to 1/16" dia. so a 1/16" piece of brass wire can be inserted.   Drill the pivot hole in the Swingout to 5/64" to allow swingout to pivot freely on wire.

#4 - Install the swingout into the mount, the notches in the mount should be on the bottom and corespond with the tab on the swingout, this will help hold them in place when closed or open.

#5 - Using M2x4mm button head cap screws (RC4WD) install the mount to the frame.  The screw will need to come from the backside of the frame rail.   Washers may be required to space the head out to prevent the screw from interfering with the swingout.    Additional securement can be provided using CA  or Epoxy

To operate, lift the swingout to disengage the tap from the notch and turn to desired position and drop back into the notch.
