My first Alec figure is not a typical miner. Instead I sculpted him in the pose that inspired his likeness in the first place. I was returning from OSH a couple of weeks ago. I stopped at a light and just across the intersection was this old guy sitting on a bench waiting for a bus. He was a sad looking fellow, ragged dirty t-shirt, laces missing from one shoe and his knee violent going up and down. I was immediately struck by his likeness to the Walter Huston in The Treasure of the Sierra Madre but I was also interested in his pose. Despite his disheveled appearance and sad countenance, his pose seemed graceful and elegant to me and I decided to sculpt both. Well, the likeness turned out nothing like Walter Huston, but the pose is very close. I've scaled him to SE, NG, 1:32, O scale, and HO.
