Product Description

These are the hundred stars nearest the Sun (counting binary stars as one, and excluding brown dwarfs), connected by a Delaunay triangulation with tubes of one light-year diameter, and at a scale of one to ten to the power nineteen.

These are also the stars less than 22 light-years from the Sun, so the diameter of this map is 44 light-years. The most distant star in this map is Gliese 66.

The stars with absolute magnitude less than five have a little ball around them. These are (absolute magnitudes in brackets):

  • Sol (4.85)
  • Alpha Centauri = Rigil Kent (4.38)
  • Alpha Canis Majoris = Sirius (1.47)
  • Alpha Canis Minoris = Procyon (2.66)
  • Alpha Aquilae = Altair (2.29)
  • Delta Pavonis (4.78)
  • Eta Cassiopeiae = Achird (4.58)
  • Beta Hydri (3.76)
  • Alpha Piscis Austrini = Fomalhaut (2.09)
