The Super Decathlon is a two-seat aircraft designed for aerobatic training, with a performance envelope from +6Gs to -5Gs. The Decathlon entered production in the United States in 1970 as a more powerful and stronger complement to the Citabra, which is not capable of significant negative-g flight, and American Champion created this line in response to requests from pilots for a stronger airframe.
This model was created on request! Purdue University sported one of these for their CFI and aerobatics training. My one hour at the controls of this was an absolute blast. It's a nimble airframe, with the short wings providing a low moment of inertia and excellent roll characteristics. Enjoy!
