Product Description
Festiniog Railway George England 0-4-0T+T Locomotive 'Palmerston' c1880

This model is a later  'sham tank' version with tender No.6. to depict 'Palmerston' as seen in a photograph at Minffordd c1880.

Designed to suit Bachmann N gauge Percy chassis.

Requires:
Bachmann N gauge Percy chassis
Ø0.31 brass wire
Ø6.2, 9mm gauge wheels for the tender. Graham Farish and Dundas Models wheels fit this model.

Assembly advice:

Preparing the chassis:

Remove body from the Bachmann Percy by undoing the four screws under the cab and cylinders.
Undo the 3 screws to remove the chassis keeper plate. Take out the existing N gauge couplings.
Cut the sprue between the firebox and front buffer part and trim or file back to the flat surfaces.
Fit the firebox into the rear coupling pocket and the front buffer into the front coupling pocket, checking they are the correct way up. Reattach the keeper plate with the 3 screws.

Adding brass wire:

Add Ø0.31 brass wire through the handrail knobs. No drilling is needed for the knobs and is not recommended as it could break them. Take your time with this step. I threaded a full length of wire through the knobs, marked the end gently with a knife, then removed the wire before trimming to length and re-installing. For the handrails on the rear cab sheets, you can pre bend the wire to the curve before threading it.
Bass wire is also used for:
A handle in front of the chimney.
Whistle chords.
Water tank balance pipe round the front of smokebox. I used Ø0.4 brass wire for this.

The whistles can be replaced with a brass ones if desired by removing the plastic ones and drilling out the holes marked inside the cast weight.

Fitting the body:

Attach the body with the two rear screws. Due to the way the Percy is designed, the front screws cannot be used as printed material isn't strong enough to replicate the spigot. You could cut the spigots off the print and use longer screws if you wish.
