Product Description
What is this? Well, in episode IX, we get to see a revised version of the Falcon. It's basically the Episode VII Falcon, only the dish has been restored to its original round appearance.

But - is that the only difference? Why, no! It appears that a new exposed access hatch is visible right next to the radar dish mount, plus a narrow one on the back port deck.

Unfortunately, the Bandai model of the Episode IX ship does not include either open hatch. I don't know if it's because they decided it wasn't worth the bother, or if it's because the change in design occurred after they'd been sent the digital data to make the model. Either way, they're both missing.

So I thought I'd put this part together. It's not 100% accurate, however, for the simple reason that there aren't a lot of photographic references to go on. In fact, there's just one - a reproduction of the ship sold as a poster for kids' bedrooms. And sadly this poster does not show the rearmost access hatch in any detail. So I've made a front access hatch as best I could. I've had to improvise my own details for the front and inner sides, because they're not visible at all on the poster. I'll revise this model if more data comes out. That said, it's such a tiny piece that the details aren't going to be noticeable anyway.

And that's it. Just cut a hole, carefully, and pop this piece in! However, I'd strongly recommend cutting carefully, fitting the piece for size, and then cut a little bit more back. Don't cut first and hope for the best! Otherwise you might cut back too much plastic around the edge.
