The S.S. Zero was the most successful development of the British S.S., "Submarine Scout" Class non-rigid airships of WW1. The proud boast of the Submarine Scout (or Sea Scout) fleet, was that not a single ship was lost to German submarine action whilst they were in view on convoy escort duties. Once a submarine was sighted, surface vessels would be called in to attack it whilst the SS could also go onto the offensive with it's own bombs. On being discovered the U-Boat would inevitably have to submerge to escape the attack but then it's underwater speed was not enough for it to keep pace with surface ships and attack them with it's torpedoes.
The set is available in either 1:700 or 1:600 scale and includes the British SS Zero and a waterline model of the German UBIII class submarine (both are available separately). You also have a choice of material - please check your choices in the top right hand corner of this page.
