Product Description

A 3D printed frame to support a radio receiver and Servo for a remote follow focus system on standard 15mm bars.
extra parts required, for a sub £50 remote follow focus, are:
Radio transmitter & 1+ channel reciever (I used a £17 combo, 2CH For FlySky FS-GT2E Transmitter Receiver TX RC Car Controller Radio 2.4GHz ). ). The frame uses the existing receiver screws for mounting.
Servo motor (MG 996R or similar) + screws: 4 off M3 x6mm (41 x 20mm cut out for motor shell) £5+ from eBay
4.8v battery: the frame is designed to take the pre assembled miniature 4.8v 210mAh rechargeable 4xAAA sized packs (with appropriate connector for the radio receiver). eg 4.8v 6v 120-400mAh Vapex Miniature Receiver Rechargeable Ni-MH RX Battery Pack (on eBay, £3-£5). I suggest a USB plug charger.

barrel nut (if used) M5 (7.7mm dia x typically 9.5mm long) & M5 bolt: Allen key head x 60mm
2.5M nut and bolt (~15mm long).

The design restrictions were to build a remote follow focus without the usual clutter of wires from DIY solutions, by incorporating a small battery in the frame (and shortening the cable on the Servo, if like mine it came with 400mm of wire! I shortened it to 100mm, by re-soldering INSIDE the servo and keeping the connector to the receiver).
The 60mm allen bolt serves to hold the unit tight against a lens, it might not be necessary, but it is more secure than relying on a clamp on just one of your 15mm bars (assuming the 3D print material is more flexible than metal).

Limitations & research:
1) If the servo only has 90 degree of movement, then you will be restricted in the angle through which the lens can be turned (imagine the servo gear to be smaller than the lens... and the lens will have even less of an angle to move). Many servos will turn up to 250 degrees, and the 90 degree limited ones can be adjusted to 180degrees. It may involve some mechanical intervention!
2) cheap servos can be noisy and this might be a consideration for you.
3) battery life, the 210mAh fits the frame exactly. The 400mAh still fits, it just hangs out the sides more. I've had more than a few hours use out of the 210mAh battery (and they are easy to change out anyway).
4) weight: about 115gms. a low profile servo and 120mAh battery would make it even less. The intention is to make a system (v3) to fit a gimbal mount (and perhaps a non bars/rails solution).

All of the extra parts are on eBay when this was written , but I have spare bolts/screws if you have a problem sourcing them. 

Aside.. v1 in the photos was printed in PLA on a makerbot. The print is a bit thin in some hidden areas but this does not affect the strength of the frame.
