Product Description
The Yorkshire Engine Company built 102 "Janus" 0-6-0 diesel-electric locomotives between 1956 and 1965. They were widely used in coal mines (NCB), oil refineries (BP), chemical (ICI) and steel works (United Steel/British Steel/Corus/Tata/Allied Steel & Wire). In 2024 two remain in service at British Steel.
This body shell is designed to fit the Graham Farish (Bachmann) Class 03/04 diesel shunter chassis. A "J" is printed under the bodyshell at the jack-shaft (extended coupling rod) end. Although the model's design should permit the chassis to operate as supplied, for best results remove the coupling rod extension and jackshaft fitting from the chassis.
The body is a snug fit, so some careful filing might be necessary to sit the body properly.
Handrails are printed below the bodyshell at the minimum thickness supported. Etched nickel-silver Tubular Guard Rails from N Brass Locos might also be suitable.
