Product Description

[This project, as it exists currently, will not be made available to purchase. This is due to the excessive amount of machining and reworking that was required, to make the pen sort of work as intended. A "from the ground up" rethink is required and some fairly fundamental changes will need to be made.]

I present my Tritium Flip Pen project.
This is the Tail section. There are two other sections, that are needed to complete the assembly: The Body and Refill Holder sections.

The pen has been designed to hold three of the Pilot BT-8 ballpoint refills: One in the Refill Holder section and two in the cavity between the Body and Tail sections. The pen nib is deployed and retracted by flipping the Refill Holder section, in the top of the Body section. As the refill is very short, it makes this process quite easy.

The Body section can hold three 2x12mm tritium vials, in the cavities around the middle (tritium vials not included).

The Refill Holder is held in place using two rubber o-rings (5.5mm ID, 1mm diameter, not included).

The Tail section has holes at the end, to allow the pen to be attached to a keychain or lanyard.

The tritium vials should be set using a UV activated optically clear adhesive such as Norland 61 or Loctite glass bond. These adhesives will cure in direct sunlight in an hour or so.

Due to potential printing irregularities the internal cavities may need to be drilled out, to allow the refills and multiple sections to fit together properly.
