This ring is based on an example found in Carlisle, United Kingdom in 1817, and known as the Kingmoor Ring. The original ring is Anglo-Saxon in origin, and has been dated to between the 8th and 10th centuries CE. Its inscription is in Old English, written in runes, and has never been completely translated. However, it is thought to be a magic charm offering protection or health to the wearer.
The inscription on the outside of the ring reads ᛭ᚨᚱᛦᚱᛁᚢᚠᛚᛏᛦᚱᛁᚢᚱᛁᚦᚩᚾᚷᛚᚨᚴᛏᚨᛈᚩᚾ. And on the inside, ᛏᚨᚿ.
