Product Description

The XTBU-1 was designed by Vought to a 1939 requirement but various delays and accidents prevented the US Navy from completing their trials and by the time the design was accepted Vought were fully committed to other work. The Sea Wolf was finally put into production by Consolidated (as the TBY) with the first aircraft being delivered in late 1944 by which time the need for torpedo bombers was fully met by the (inferior) Avenger. Less than 200 Sea Wolves were built.
