This Ring holds multiple aspects of greek culture including
- Sigma (letter of greek alphabet)
- Boeotian shield (a spartan shield)
- Meander art (greek border art)
Sigma is the 18th letter of the Greek alphabet. It is symbolically used in mathematics to represent the summation of a set or series. This then leads to it being used almost in every area such as, engineering, maths and science. It is also used to denote other values such as in engineering it is used to denote stress, and in statistics it is used to denote standard deviation.
The shield that the symbol is placed on in this ring design is a boeotian shield, also known as a dipylon shield. It was used by spartan warriors in ancient greece.
The intricate pattern around the ring is meander art, which is a decorative pattern that was used within greek culture.
This ring also includes a curved inside surface for a comfortable fit.
