This GE buffer plate is not a direct drop in replacement for the Atlas U23B or other GE 4 axle models. It was designed to be used on the Atlas U23B. I also designed a draft gear box to go with it, but to use the draft gear box you woud have to be able to do some serious re-engineering of the coupler mounting system.
So if you are interested in having a scale GE 4 axle buffer plate, you can use this one. You will have to fill in around the coupler opening on your model and you will have to also design a new way to attach your coupler.
A fellow modler asked if I would put this up for sale, so here it is.
It will come to you with layering lines on just about every surface. Clean the part and then use a #11 blade and scrape the surfaces to remove the layering lines. It cleans up real nicely.
Be VERY CAREFUL how you hold the part. The buffer plate side walls are thin and you cn crush it or snap it if you hndle it to rough.
