The Federation built several ship types using common (or nearly common) parts. The Federation destroyer hull uses a modified saucer and one engine from the heavy cruiser to create a small ship for a small mission. There were several ships of this type with varying weapons arrays. This was the most common type, the Guided Weapons Destroyer (DDG), with two photon torpedoes, six phaser-1s and two phaser-3s, and two multi-function drone racks. It was inspired by encounters with the Kzintis and their drone technology.
The ship is available in a variety of materials. Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
