BP7-04, Safety Wall End Posts, 4 pcs

3D printed in white nylon plastic with a matte finish and slight grainy feel.
Product Description
  • Just what you need to make 2 inexpensive barrier/safety walls, 2"- 4" high, for your custom 1/32 scale slotracing or magracing track.
  • When combined with strips cut from ⅛” (3mm) or 1/4" (6mm) thick sheets of expanded PVC foam board (available elsewhere), you can create strong smooth walls that are inexpensive and more versatile than Scalextric guardrails and Ninco safety walls.
  • PVC foam board, such as Celtec and Sintra, is available in many sizes and several colors. It’s inexpensive, tough, and very easy to cut, sand, bend, and twist. Tight 4” radius curved walls are possible with ⅛” thick material. The board is also available in ¼” thickness, if desired, but it’s not needed for strength.
  • This system even works well on banked curves!
  • Each of the 4 posts is 2” tall with an additional ⅜” pin molded onto the bottom for easy and secure installation.
  • Two of these end posts are needed for each strip of PVC board, one at each end of the strip.
  • The key to the system is a rabbet in each end post. Each post has a rabbet ⅛” x ⅛” x 2” to receive the edge of the PVC strip.

Installation Instructions
  1. Separate end posts from sprue with sharp knife, razor saw, or hacksaw blade.
  2. Cut a strip 2”-4" wide from a sheet of ⅛” or 1/4" thick PVC board. (These end posts should adequately support and secure walls up to 4" high.)
  3. Using cyanoacrylate (commonly sold under trade names such as "Super Glue" and "Krazy Glue") glue one end of the foam board strip into the rabbet of one of the end posts.
  4. Drill a 3/16” diameter hole where you want this end of your wall located.
  5. Insert the pin on the post into the hole with PVC strip attached.
  6. Place the rest of the strip (on edge) in the desired location in order to determine where the other end of this strip should be located..
  7. Drill a 3/16” diameter hole for another end post at the appropriate point.
  8. Insert another end post into this hole
  9. Cut off the end of the strip if needed.
  10. Glue this end of the strip into the babbet of this end post.
  11. If you want your wall permanently installed, I suggest that you remove the wall and paint it now. Then glue both end posts and the bottom edge of the wall to the track using 2-part epoxy glue.
  12. If you want your wall to be removable, glue posts or steel rods onto the back side of the wall that can be inserted into holes you drill into the track along the back edge of the wall. BP5 Safety Wall Posts available in my shop, or 3/32” diameter music wire cut to the proper length, can be used for this purpose. Tracks with banked curves and hills will require more posts/rods. After all glue is cured, paint as desired.
