3D printed in matte translucent plastic that showcases incredibly fine and intricate details.
Product Description
Patrol Airship of the U.S. Navy's K class, which in World War 2 were used as convoy escorts and anti-submarine spotters. K Ships were the first non-rigid airships to cross the Atlantic when the 14th Squadron were ordered to French Morocco to take up anti-submarine duties across the Straits of Gibralter. A total of 135 K Ships were built. The model is complete with a tractor pulled, mobile mooring mast and can be displayed landed and attached to the mast OR airborne by completing the model with the nose cone that is attached to the mounting spigot of the mooring mast. There is a 1mm nominal diameter hole for a mounting wire in base of the control car and a 0.5 mm hole in the top of the hull (through the centre  of gravity) should you chose to suspend the model.

The ZMC-2 was unique in that its' envelope was covered entirely in 2mm thick duralumin , an aluminium alloy. It had reinforcing ribs on the inside but was not technically a "rigid" airship in as much as its' shape was maintained by the pressure of the helium gas that it was filled with. The ZMC-2's performance was excellent throughout its' ten year operational life and it completely wore out its' first set of engines. It flew from August 1929 until August 1939 and was finally broken up in 1941.There is a nominal 2mm diameter hole in the hull for a display stand.
