This panel allows you to use a Specialized Fuelselage hydration system with Felt IA triathlon bikes. This version replaces the original Calpac and rubber cover, but features a similar shape to the Calpac & Aeropac combination.
Due to the narrow frame of the Felt IA bikes compared to the Specialized Shiv, the bladders fill up to about 50% of their total capacity. This version works with the large 1000ml Fuelselage, so you should expect to be able to fill it up to 500ml. This is about the size of a regular water bottle.
This version consists of two parts: a placeholder and a top panel. The placeholder is mounted to the frame with five bolts. The top panel slots into the placeholder at the front with a little hook (make sure it's slotted when mounting), and is held in place by the side flanges and two bolts at the rear.
The top panel features a hole to fit an M5 countersunk bolt to work with the magnet on the Fuelselage, as shown on the pictures. Make sure your bolt is regular steel, not stainless, in order for it to be magnetic.
I have compiled a
small document with some installation tips.
IMPORTANT: This version works with the
large 1000ml Specialized Fuelselage hydration system (for Shiv frame sizes
M/L/XL). I also have a version available for the smaller Fuelselage.
Not compatible with IA 2.0.
NOTE: This includes only the panel, you will need to order a Fuelselage seperately.
NOTE ON SMALL FRAMES: Small frames have narrower down tubes, so it may be more difficult to fit the Fuelselage in frame size 48 and 51. Not impossible, but a bit of a hassle. For size 54 and upwards it is not really an issue.
NOTE ON INSTALLATION: This plastic does not handle high pressure too well, so take care when tightening the bolts:
a little tight is tight enough!
DISCLAIMER: This is a DIY project which I choose to share with other people. Using this part to modify your own Felt IA is entirely your own responsibility and I will not take responsibility for any unexpected consequences of the modification. However, I'll do my best to help out if there are any issues :)
