Product Description
A reproduction of the inspiration for the Indiana Jones golden Chachapoyan fertility idol, featured in Raiders of the Lost Ark. The original Aztec idol is currently on view at the Dunbarton Oaks Museum.

This resculpted version of that idol, at roughly one third-size, shows the detail that inspired the Indiana Jones statue. The grimace, the body language, and the tiny figure emerging. This is a unique piece for true collectors of Indiana Jones memorabilia. Printed hollow to keep the cost lower.

About the original figure: The figure, originally carved from Aplite stone, represents the Aztec deity Tlazolteotl. Tlazolteotl is the god who both created and can remove sin, sometimes called the "filth deity". She represents many facets of fertility, not just childbirth. Some suggest the idol may be a modern reproduction from the 19th century, based on the forms found in classical Aztec art.
