The Omega Octant is east of the Alpha Octant empires seen in the Star Fleet Universe (beyond the Inter-Stellar Concordium), on the other side of a galactic void. That void is a dead zone where life is impossible and ships fall apart, marking a separation between Octants. The Maesron Alliance was one of the preeminent empires of the Omega Octant, at one point the largest empire before civil war, economic collapse, and foreign invasion reduced their territory to a small enclave. Maesron ships are armed with wide-angle phasers, tachyon guns, and tachyon missiles.

The Maesrons combined the roles of tachyon missile and electronic warfare support in their missile scout, a variant of the versatile destroyer hull. In addition to a pair of special sensors, the ship has a set of four type-A tachyon missile racks, along with double seeking-weapon control in order to maintain them in flight, or to assume control of missiles launched by allied warships. The price paid to include these options was to limit the ship’s direct-fire weaponry to a mere four wide-angle phaser-3s; nonetheless, the missile scout made for an effective addition to a Maesron squadron or fleet.

The ship is available in a variety of materials. Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
