Product Description

This is a supplement to the five HO scale models of the machinery used in the kind of medium sized sawmill that was common throughout the 20th century in communities all over the US and Canada. Such a mill would employ from 10 to 20 men and produce in the order of 10,000 to 20,000 board feet per day of lumber. The five models are the Log Haul-up winch, the No 2 Special Double Cut Headsaw, the Medium Gang Edger, the Roller Tables With Transfer Beams (a set of six) and the Wood Frame Swing Saw. The wheels and mandrels needed to build an overhead belt drive system are offered as well.

Included are all the drive wheels and mandrels you should need to build an overhead belt drive system for our HO scale sawmill with some left over for other projects. Be aware that the parts are not attached to the sprues in the usual fashion but are printed around them. Cut the sprue with a hobby knife and the parts can be gently worked off the end. Do this with care because they will be locked in place with wax. Be particularly careful of the spoked wheels as they break easily if you pull too hard. Note the bevel gears which can be used to change direction of your overhead shaft system. They are of two sizes.

For shafting AWG 20 wire is a snug fit and .025” wire is a loose fit.

This model is as close to scale as Shapeways technology allows and because of the precision required to print the parts it can be printed only in Frosted Extreme Detail Plastic.
