Product Description

This is a hands-on protein tetramer model. Four of these individual protein monomer chains will click together and assemble into a tetramer.

Note: need to purchase 4 to make the tetramer - the photos and video show 4 pieces, each in a different color. 

Uricase (2YZB) from arthrobacter globiformis is a tetrameric enzyme molecule with 4 interlocking, identical, chains. This is a single chain of the enzyme rendered as a surface model. A complete set of 4 of these identical monomer units can be assembled together into the tetrameric structure of the uricase enzyme. It's a tactile example of how multiple protein chains can assemble together into the final intact protein molecule.
