Product Description
Most commonly seen in the Ptolemaic and Roman periods (but also during the Third Intermediate Period), the appearance of Anubis wearing the double crown (pschent), depending on the context, may be showing him as the Pharaoh of the West, or of the Duat (indeed he is given both these epithets in the demotic magical papyrus of London and Leiden.) In other cases, it may be indicating that he is appearing as the king's own embalmer and pyschopomp (with the deceased thereby receiving the kind of extra care otherwise reserved for the king.)
