I've put the headband up for sale. The headband should be nearly identical to the Klipsch part. I have successfully printed it and assebled the headphones. Please refer to the pictures to see the fixed headphones in all its glory. So, go ahead and fix yours.
INTRODUCTION
Hello folks, personally I don't think many people would end up in this situation although when I looked up on the internet about this issue, I found three people who had broken headbands for Klipsch Mode M40 & Klipsch Status.
So, if someone ends up breaking the headband of their Klipsch Status headphones, this should act as a replacement part for both M40 and Status. But to be clear, I have only dismantled Klipsch Mode M40 by myself (for measurements and 3D modeling), and put them back together (at this point with the broken headband).
Where as I have inspected the Klipsch Status in person, and they are exactly the same from every single aspect of design.
THE PROBLEM
The primary reason why I had to make the headband was because I ended up breaking mines while trying to stretch the headphones over night by putting them around Mode M40's box.
Therefore, I set out to design the headband. After careful design inspection, drawings, 3D modeling and design changes, I have decided to put these out for sale for anyone who wants to fix their headphones and to use them for years to come.
WHY WAS IT NECESSARY? SHOULD YOU BUY IT?
I'll highlight a few reason why you would consider to buy them apart from the fact that it would be nice to have a working pair of headphones.
1. First and foremost, I have reassessed the curve to relieve the pressure on the ears. So, this should make the headphones less tight around the skull.
2. I have made fundamental design changes to work with the overall structure. I have carefully considered the pressure points and aided it by making sure that there is enough material and support present (two bulging lines in the middle in appropriate size), making it strong enough to tolerate casual bending and flexing.
3. Warranty issues and claims (depending on whether it qualifies for an exchange). Although I purchased the headphones directly from Amazon. There are people who may have bought them second hand or from unauthorised resellers.
SUMMARY
While it may seem like a simple 3D design to create the headband, but it wasn't the case. It required a lot of fine tuning and hard work. For example, the design has to be extremely precise to get the circular shape, along with iterative design changes and a lot of patience.
But at least, we all have a solution to enjoy our headphones again.
