1/600 CSS Wilmington

An experimental, twin casmate design designed by William Graves based upon the "Monitor type small casemate" concept proposed by the Tifts Brothers. She was nearly complete when Wilmington fell, and burned to prevent capture. Her casemates carried two heavy Brooke rifles. Her intended role was as an escort for Blockade Runners and as an interceptor when the opportunity arose. It has been speculated that, like Raleigh (also intended for this role), she would have been painted in a very dark blue. She may have been black at the waterline, but this is mere speculation on my part.
