Product Description
The JN-3, industrial designation Object 114-KV, is the immediate successor the the JN-1, having much thicker armour on the hull and a heavy machine gun mounted in the front.  The tank also had large stowage bins mounted on the sides and an extra pair of road wheels.  These changes were made to allow the tank to operate far longer without a continuous supply line, as the maintenance-intensive JN-1 had a tendency to get bogged down, and supply shortages were a much bigger problem than with the JN-2 SAB.  Unfortunately, the JN-3 was too heavy for the existing drive train, so a bigger engine and stronger transmission had to be developed before the vehicle could be deployed.  By the time that finally happened, armoured warfare had changed to the point that heavy artillery tanks were, more or less, obsolete as breakthrough units.
