Tatra T2SU overview

The T2SUs were T2 trams that were specifically delivered to the Soviet Union, hence the -SU suffix. These trams were different from the ones produced in Czechoslovakia, particularly due to the removal of the middle door, allowing for more seats. The fare-collection system in most of the Soviet Union required that all passengers pay for their ride, which meant they had to board from the rear door and exit from the front door. Contractors therefore required the removal of the middle door to prevent fare evasion by free-riders.

All 380 T2SU trams were eventually retired from service in the 1980s.
