Chassis for the Furness Railway E1, Cambrian Small Passenger Class (SPC) / Albion Class locomotive, designed as a fixed axle for 7mm 0 Gauge.
This is a re-scale and redesign.
The axle holes need gentle reaming out to accept bushes (bearings) Reaming them out slightly downwards to an oval and keeping the bushes loose makes a little bit of downward play to help with track holding and electrical conductivity.
A spacing plate is to be glued in position relative to your motor and gearbox choice. It makes a good motor mounting plate too.
For the leading wheels a slot has been cut out, this too may need a little reaming to accept the bushes but once a good sliding clearance has been made they can be trapped in place with a small bit of scrap, rod wire or otherwise. If you want it as a fixed axle then trap them at the highest point, if you want a bit of downward play or springing then give it about 1mm extra.
The front chassis hole that is designed for body fixing is only to be reamed out only a little bit as the bolt will self tap, a retaining nut is not needed unless you want to add one. Brake pads are already in position but you will have to make your own brake rigging if required, on the insides are dimples to accept some thin brass rodding.
Owing to various conflicting written information and drawings regarding the driving wheel diameters the descision was finally made and the chassis are designed to use 5' 6" driving wheels with the front and rear wheels being 3' 6" rather than use the slightly larger quoted dimensions. The larger wheels no doubt will fit with a tweak yet the chassis has been designed with the former in mind.
