Product Description
Since the year 2000, the Dwyer Mast DM-5 has been used on Potter 19, Sanibel 18. The feed slot length is cut by hand and may vary by 1/4". Measure yours before ordering. Made of Strong durable nylon with a textured surface that can be dyed a color. Black is best for UV blocking.
NOTE: This build was made for a feed slot vertical cut of 2 7/8" long and slot cut in the mast has a shape that looks like a trapezoid.
If your feed slot has a smooth radius cut (made by a milling machine) you will have to order our other gate posted on ShapeWays or request a custom shape at info@MastGates.com with measurements & photo to info@MastGates.com for a better fitting profile made for you.
Option to prevent the gate insert from being pushed out of position during reefing when the sail is under pressure, you will need to add a small set screw to pin the insert to the luff channel. With the MastGate seated and centered within the feed slot, look straight down between the track gap and use a nail and hammer to center punch a mark in the middle of the oblong slot of the gate's foot. Remove gate to drill & tap for set screw size of 6-32 x 1/4" to 3/8" long. Drill is #35 (7/64") and screws use a 1/16" size Allen key. Use a glue or thread lock if using a nylon screw or marine anti-seize paste on metal type screw.
