The Thumb Rail is a long thumb rest for a bass guitar that runs the length of the right hand playing surface (neck to near bridge) allowing for an endless amount of tone variation with a comfortable and familiar hand position. This eliminates the tone-limiting "thumb on the pickup" locations or hand stretching to get where you want to be to get the right tone and attack. Just play. Secures at standard pick guard screw locations using your existing screws, making it an easily reversible update to your bass. FITS: This unit is designed specifically for the Fender Jazz Bass (1970-1982 that used 4" pickup spacing) and the Geddy Lee Artist Series Jazz Bass (MIJ) and assumes the use of NO pickguard. It may fit others, but has only been tested on the following: TEST FIT ON:
- Mid-year '76 (the one with the micro-tilt neck)
- Marcus Miller Signature model
- Geddy Lee Artist Series (MIJ)
The design allows for the pickup spacing changes between the 60's and 70's though. It didn't work on p/u spacing of some Squiers and MIJs. Note, due to the length of the rail and finishing capabilities, when ordering in plastic, this is only available in NON-polished black and white "Strong & Flexible". Due to that, it has a textured surface. This ads some grip which keeps your thumb in place nicely. All product and company names are trademarks™ or registered® trademarks of their respective holders.
