Product Description
So, you have all that great glass for your old Minolta, and the equivalent quality lenses from Canon would go in the thousands of dollars. And the adapters on the market don't let you focus to infinity?

No problem.

Or at least, not much of one anyway. The problem is that the flange distance is wrong. Adapters take up space and make the distance problem worse. But this adapter goes all the way inside the EOS body, and doesn't make the lens stick out farther. It holds the lens to the camera, flange to flange. The distance is now only half a millimeter off, and that gets you a reasonable hyper-focal distance even at low f-stops. Your scale on the barrel is off, but who focuses to tape anyway?

I am using one I printed on my home printer, and that's not nearly as strong as the plastic from shapeways. I haven't had a problem yet. There is no locking mechanism for the body or lens, so you just have to hold on and be careful, but mine holds rather tightly.

If you have any doubts about using this kind of spit-and-bailing-wire type stuff on your camera, then please don't. Another good rule of thumb is: if you don't understand any of the terms I have used in this description, then this is not what you want. Be especially careful of lenses that stick into the camera body more than usual. I know that the 5d has problems with some adapted lenses for this reason. it isn't a big deal, but the mirror can hit the back of the lens.

You have been warned. :)

Update:
I hadn't ordered this from shapeways myself, though others have. I prototyped it with my home printer. After ordering and using one from Shapeways, here's some thoughts. It is a tight fit. This is good, but it means you will probably have to sand or scrape a little to make it fit well. You want it a little tight because there's no way to lock it. If you want to use it with a eos mount focal reducer, and possibly some other eos adapters, you may have to do some surgery on the light baffling in the reducer, to avoid bending or breaking the auto aperture pin on the lens. DON'T FORCE IT. Remember, this is an expert level DIY project that can screw up your equipment. If you have any doubt about your ability to sort out this kind of thing, don't buy it.
