Product Description

(Unpainted model) This model shows a torus (3,2) knot bounding an Enneper minimal surface. NOTE: In this model the "knot" strand does not weave around itself but intersects and passes through itself, unlike the real knot it represents.) When I first saw a picture of an Enneper surface, I thought of the torus (3,2) knot that Lynnclaire Dennis had shown me and which I was studying and modeling. I found that when the torus knot is flexed into its most expanded form, it lays on the surface of the Enneper surface and can thus be used as one possible boundary to the surface. A flexible torus (3,2) knot that can flex open into this position is also available in this 3D Geometry shop.
