To remove nails from the sprue, use a nail clipper or scissors to cut as close to the bottom of the nail as as possible, then file accordingly for shape. Manicures can be applied with a thin layer of nail glue (use as directed), or with double sided adhesive (recommended: Scrapbook Adhesives Power Mounting Tape 1/4" or Fashion Tape). They can also be attached to a fake nail that is then applied to the hand; we recommend this method for those with skin concerns or sensitive skin.
When applied directly to the natural nail, these manicures should not be worn longer than 2-4 days. If skin irritation occurs, remove immediately. The 3D Printed Manicure should not be treated like other forms of manicure (gel, acrylic, etc.), and act more as costume pieces for photo shoots, costumes, special events, or special days.
For more information on the material your nails are made of (Strong and Flexible Plastic), visit Shapeways.com, select Make, and select your material under the Materials menu.
To remove nails attached with glue, brush the perimeters with acetone and gently work beneath nail. Follow up with a pick and a gentle hand to assist removal, then file the residue on your fingernails and repeat. To remove nails attached with tape, gently peel off nails from nail bed to tip, then clean the mounting tape and residue with acetone. Depending on how they are removed, the manicure can be worn again. Filing the backsides of the nails assists reusability, for it removes any excess glue left behind. For longer lasting manicures, attach the nails to acrylic nails that are then applied to the natural nail.
