Product Description
USS George Washington CVN-73, is a US Navy nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, the 6th carrier in the Nimitz class and the 4th US Navy ship named after George Washington, the first president of the United States. She was built by Newport News Shipbuilding and was commissioned on 4 July 1992. In 1993, following a fleet reorganization, the Cruiser-Destroyer Group 2 staff went aboard a new flagship, George Washington. The group participated in the 2000 NATO Exercise Destined Glory, Operation Joint Endeavor, Operation Deny Flight, Operation Southern Watch, and Operation Vigilant Resolve. After 2001 the group took part in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. On 20 February 2004 Washington entered the Gulf of Aden and a week later was conducting operations in the Persian Gulf. The ship can reach speeds of over 30 knots and is powered by two Westinghouse A4W nuclear reactors and has four 5-bladed propellers of 66220 pounds (30040 kg) each. This means that the Washington can travel more than 3000000 nautical miles (5600000 km) before needing refueling.

This kit contains all necessary parts for assembling TWO George Washington CV-73 aircraft carrier models under 1/1800 scale to be used on same scale ships and make a fine diorama display. Any additional diorama accessories are not included and should be purchased separately.
