Product Description
This model is an approximate representation of the crane visible in th many photos of the SMS Emden crew leaving Direction Island (in the Cocos and Keeling Islands) in World War I. This crane was located on a small jetty and was used to transfer goods from small 4-wheeled railway cars to lighters and longboats. The crane is designed to be mounted on top of a 10" wide structural timber of your jetty model. You could also trim the flanges on the bottom of the base mount and use this crane on a loading dock or on a small flatcar. The crane has an extended peg on the bottom to fit into the base mount and a drilled hole below so that more support is available, but this can be shortened if needed. This model uses the Crab Winch also available in our Store.
