Product Description
The Vought F-8 Crusader (originally F8U) is a single-engine, supersonic, carrier-based air superiority jet aircraft built by Vought for the United States Navy and Marine Corps, and for the French Navy. The first F-8 prototype was ready for flight in February 1955. The F-8 served principally in the Vietnam War. The Crusader was the last American fighter with guns as the primary weapon, earning it the title "The Last of the Gunfighters"

This 1/144 scale model of the Vought F-8 Crusader contains a total of 20 parts and may be modeled in various configurations, depending on which parts are selected. The airframe is available with AIM launchers, without AIM launchers, or with holes for attaching AIM launchers (Parts 18 & 19). If you don’t intend to include AIMs on your model, order Part 1. If you know you are going to include AIM’s, order Part 2 (and Parts 18 & 19). If you are undecided, order Part 3 (and Parts 18 & 19).

The model was designed to be displayed in three different configurations, “wings down/tips down”, “wings down/tips up” and “wings up/slats down”.

Wings down/tips down is the normal operational configuration. Use wing parts 4, 13 and 14.

Wings down/tips up is the stowage configuration. Use wing parts 4, 9 and 10.

Wings up/slats down is the final approach configuration. Use wing Parts 5, 11 and 12.

Happy Modeling!
