Product Description
This 3mm: 1ft model is of a 16t mineral wagon built by the Hurst-Nelson company and sold to private owners. After nationalisation, these wagons continued in use alongside other mineral wagons including the very, very similar type assigned to diagrams 1/101 and 1/113. The differences I have spotted and included in the model are
(1) The characteristic extra vertical stanchions on the sides, like the 1/112 cupboard door type
(2) The C-channel above the end door has an extra strengthening web at either end.
This model should fit the 3mm Society kit of the 9'wb 16'6" OHS chassis.
One interesting thing about the 1/101 or 1/113 and this private-owner version which I have noticed is that the end-door securing points are a few inches lower than on other 16t and 21t types: there is a splendid picture in Modellers' Backtrack magazine and also David Larkin's second volume of The Acquired Wagons of British Railways, where one of these PO wagons has been fitted with replacement side and end doors from later designed mineral  wagons. The end door shows a subtle modification to accommdate the lower securing points. Marvellous rivet-counting stuff! If you would like me to upload a model with replacement doors, please let me know. The same goes if you would like this model in another scale.
UPDATED model includes a raised layer of capping strip inside the top edge of the wagon, which is a very minor improvement to the interior detail (less than 0.2mm thick). The main reason for adding it is really to ensure that the top row of interior rivets are no longer the only thing overhanging the inside walls, and so requiring vertical lines of support wax during printing. On the first prints I received, this left visible lines up the inside underneath every rivet, even after cleaning. The capping strip thickness should result in continuous support wax so there should be no lines. The lining texture was fixed by abrading with sanding sticks, but the problem is worth avoiding.
