Fluids are beautiful because their forms are analog, delicate, and ephemeral. But simulations of fluids must operate on discrete, digital representations; and being composed of pure data, may be visualized in any manner imaginable. This necklace piece is a 3D print from one instant of time in a dynamic simulation of a droplet falling onto an inclined surface. The digital representation is a connected mesh of triangles, coarsened to the point of being nearly indistinguishable as a fluid. The simulation software uses a vortex sheet method to compute the flow, and was written from scratch for my dissertation research.
Note that this piece will arrive as pictured. You have the option of adding any type of chain, cord, or string to complete the necklace. Simply create a chain with your desired length and thread it through the piece however you like.
