Sylkolide

Oh, Lola! I smell white musk in your eyes. Sylky like hot liquid metal. A piece of jewelry with a sensous elegance and an extravagant charm. A pendant so sylkolicious it knocks you dead! A sensual and seductive white musk tinted with a soft raspberry pink — to wear on a chain around your neck.

Sylkolide, which had its debut in 'Oh, Lola!' (Marc Jacobs, 2011) by Calice Backer and Yann Vasnier, is a modern, toppy and diffusive white musk with a lingering tail and a fresh raspberry vibe. It is a linear musk that magically folds itself into a horseshoe-shaped conformation mimicking macrocycles such as Exaltolide, also available as pendant. But unlike Exaltolide, the three-dimensional shape of the Sylkolide pendant is less clean, simple, and geometric. At first glance, the structure may even look a little confusing and chaotic, but how Sylkolide smartly keeps itself in structural shape is highly sophisticated, stylish, and chic. Delineated is the more potent (S)-configured enantiomer, and since the center of gravity of the Sylkolide model is closer to the carbonyl attachment eyelet than in Helvetolide, Romandolide, Serenolide, or Applelide, it is the linear white musk best suited for jewelry. It is also fashionable in perfumery, and prominent high dosages can be found in 'Cashmere & Musk' (Strenesse, 2012) by Ursula Wandel, together with Cashmeran, in 'Hilfiger Woman Cheerfully Pink' (Hilfiger, 2013), and more recently in 'Ever Bloom' (Shiseido, 2015) by Aurelian Guichard. 

The dimensions of the Sylkolide pendant are ca. 3.5 cm × 3.6 cm × 2.0 cm, and the hole for the necklace (not included) has a diameter of ca. 3.2 mm. It fits nicely to a more massive rhodinated curb-chain necklace, such as the 2.5 mm/45 cm Oro Vivo SK20259 depicted (art. no. 7611324771731), but also to a great variety of other ones, such as the 2 mm/45 cm 925 Sterling silver Cozmos necklace.
