SR Westinghouse Ground Signal

This is the support for a Southern Railway Westinghouse ground signal. It is an aid to scratchbuilding and is only useful to expert signal modellers. The bushes are to be drilled 0.45mm for the signal arm and the operating crank pivots. The lamp is to be provided with a 0.5mm fibre optic routed through the structure. The print base is designed to fit inside a round brass tube 7.5mm internal diameter set in to the layout baseboard. Through the base there are holes for the fibre optic and the operating rod. The hole for the operating rod will require a brass tube insert 1.5mm diameter. The bush for the signal pivot is wider than the  prototype to allow space for the model operating wire.

 

The model is made to 1:76 scale or 4mm:1 foot. This is a very small component and the signal part is only 10mm high
