Product Description

One of the primary issues of using a drone for an open water rescue is that, unlike a helicopter, its electric whir is barely audible over the noise of the ambient environment.

As a survivor floating in a large body of water this presents a huge problem, since your primary goal should be to attract the attention of rescue through a combination of shouting, arm waving and general flailing. How are you supposed to do that if you don't even realize that salvation is flying directly above you?

Introducing SoundTubes for the DJI 4.

The concept behind these sound tubes is probably best explained by this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuGnsW0ysrA&t=2m44s).

In a nutshell, the inside of the tubes are ribbed which in turn produces an octave scale as the rushing air from the rotors is forced through them.

Is this louder than a rescue chopper? No

Will this increase the amount of noise it makes over the standard DJI 4 and improve its chances of being spotted by a person in need? Most probably yes.

In addition to acting as a signaling device for the presence of the rescue drone, the tubes are mounted to a large rotor guard. Each sporting the U.S coast guard logo (or any other logo for that matter), leaving little doubt as to whom is piloting the vehicle.

You can have any color you like, so long as its white or black. That being said, the attachment should definitely be painted (preferably red) post-printing to maximize drone visibility. Also note that the screw holes should be manually drilled after printing to avoid misalignment.
